Line chart of the S&P/TSX Composite's daily close, showing Wednesday's sharp drop as financials fell and energy stocks gained.

Financials led Wednesday's TSX decline as higher bond yields pressured rate-sensitive names, with TD Bank down 3.2 percent and RBC down 3 percent, while healthcare and clean technology names also weighed on the index. Energy moved the opposite direction, with Canadian Natural Resources up 4.6 percent and Cenovus up 4.5 percent on higher crude prices and stronger quarterly results. US futures pointed higher Thursday morning on a Microsoft earnings beat, though nothing about Wednesday's Fed dissents or the strikes on Iran had been resolved by then.
