Three sessions decided the week. Banks and gold miners drove a sharp drop on Wednesday, and on Thursday energy shares gained between 2% and 4% while the large banks fell on higher yields, so the index barely moved. Friday's rebound followed weak September job data that eased expectations of a Bank of Canada rate hike. Brent and gold are front-month futures settlements.
