Canadian yields drifted higher through August even though the Bank of Canada held its policy rate at 2.25% and had no decision to make during the month. The 10-year yield peaked on August 21, before trade talks with the United States collapsed, then gave back part of the rise. The moves were small, and the 2-year, 5-year and 10-year maturities all finished the month above where they began.
