The federal government's $7.5 billion tariff relief package, announced August 25, arrives days before Canada's own retaliatory tariffs take effect on September 8, raising import costs for some of the same businesses the funding targets. Eligibility for one funding stream now starts at $1 million in annual revenue, opening it to smaller incorporated clients, while another stream's non-repayable cap triples to $3 million in September. The package supplements roughly $25 billion in tariff-related support rolled out over the prior 18 months.
