Saudi Arabia joined US strikes against Iran aligned militia sites in Iraq overnight, its most direct combat role since the five month conflict began and a shift from the broker position it had held until this week. The move followed Iran's own missile attack on US forces, all of which were intercepted. Saudi involvement now puts the kingdom's own production infrastructure within the war's risk perimeter for the first time, a change oil traders have not had to price before.
