Chart comparing the CRA's prescribed interest rate against Government of Canada 10 year bond yields since 2024.

The Canada Revenue Agency's prescribed rate has held at 3% for six consecutive quarters, unchanged since the third quarter of 2025. Government of Canada 10 year yields have since climbed to 3.75%, their highest since May 2024, widening the gap with the locked prescribed rate to roughly 75 basis points. Because a prescribed rate loan locks its rate for the life of the loan, that spread favours setting one up now rather than waiting for a future quarter.
