Quarterly bar chart showing the CRA prescribed rate holding at 3 percent from Q1 2022 through Q4 2026.

The Canada Revenue Agency confirmed its prescribed rate stays at 3 percent for the fourth quarter of 2026, the sixth consecutive quarter at that level, based on Government of Canada three-month Treasury Bill yields from July. A prescribed rate loan made to a spouse, partner or family trust before December 31 locks in that rate for the life of the loan regardless of where rates move afterward, a window that has stayed open longer than usual as longer-term Canadian bond yields climb.
