Line chart of the WTI crude oil front-month settlement from September 16 to October 15, 2026.

Oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz are near half of pre-conflict levels, according to UBS Evidence Lab, down from roughly 75% at the recent peak, and attacks are at their highest intensity of the conflict. Yet WTI remains 4.4% below its September 16 close of $102.43. The market appears to be pricing duration rather than the immediate disruption. Kpler counted ten tankers struck in the strait from September 28 to October 4.
