Chart comparing same-day moves across the VIX, oil, gold, the Canadian dollar and the TSX against rate-hike odds on Thursday.

Wednesday's VIX spike had nearly fully unwound by early Thursday afternoon, a single-session round trip of roughly 13 percent. September rate-hike odds in Fed funds futures did not follow the same path, holding near 80 percent both immediately after Wednesday's three-dissent Fed vote and again after this morning's cooler June inflation print. WTI and gold are both still holding most of Wednesday's gains, evidence that the assets pricing an active Iran conflict have not read Thursday the same way the assets pricing equity fear have.
