The TSX Composite closed at a record 36,381.23 Friday as gold miners rallied on a weak US jobs report while Canadian financials lagged on domestic rate risk. Agnico Eagle, Barrick and Wheaton Precious Metals each gained between 5% and 6.6%, pushing gold miners as a group up as much as 14%. RBC and TD Bank slipped modestly the same day as stronger Canadian jobs data raised speculation about further Bank of Canada tightening. Monday's early trading favours energy over gold miners, reversing Friday's leadership.
