Step chart showing the CRA prescribed rate for income-splitting loans holding at 3 percent through 2026.

The Canada Revenue Agency's prescribed rate, used for income-splitting loans, has held at 3 percent for six straight quarters, its longest stretch since falling from its 2024 peak. The rate is set each quarter from Treasury Bill yields in the prior quarter's first month, and those yields have already climbed since it was last struck, raising the odds of a higher reset ahead. A rate locked in at signing holds for the life of that loan even if the posted rate later rises.
