Line chart tracking the US 10 year Treasury yield easing toward 4.70 percent after a Treasury debt buyback announcement.

The 10-year Treasury yield eased toward 4.70% Wednesday after the US Treasury said it would step up buybacks of long-dated government debt, pulling the curve back from its highest levels in nearly two decades. The 30-year yield fell nine basis points to 5.19%, retreating from Monday's 5.31% print, the richest level for long bonds since June 2007. A three-day pause on tariffs against Canadian goods added to the risk-on mood, lifting the TSX, the Canadian dollar and Wall Street together.
