The TSX and S&P 500 tracked each other closely from July 3 through last week before splitting on Friday and Monday. The TSX fell roughly 80 points Monday as gold miners slid 3.5% on flat bullion prices, while the S&P 500 gained 0.63% and the Nasdaq climbed 1.02% on a semiconductor rebound ahead of a heavy week of technology earnings. Both benchmarks reacted to the same conflict headlines, but Toronto's precious metals weighting and New York's chip exposure pulled the indices in opposite directions.
