Line chart of the TSX and the S&P 500 in US and Canadian dollars, rebased to 100 on August 26, 2026.

Converting the S&P 500 into Canadian dollars adds the effect of USD/CAD, which has risen since August 26. For a Canadian investor holding US stocks, that currency move has done more to separate returns from the TSX than any move in the TSX itself. The converted series is the S&P 500 daily close multiplied by the USD/CAD close, and both equity series are price returns, which exclude dividends.
