A global bond selloff drove the fourth straight daily decline, with the US 10-year yield touching its highest level since 2002. Materials were the weakest sector and financials also fell, while energy and technology gained as oil rose, and more stocks fell than rose. The index ended a five-month winning streak in September but still posted a ninth straight quarterly gain. September inflation on October 19 and the Bank of Canada decision on October 28 are the next tests.
