The TSX dipped to an intraday low near 35,168 shortly after this morning's stronger-than-expected jobs report before recovering through the afternoon, led by gains in consumer discretionary stocks and financials rather than the safe-haven trade that had driven Thursday's session. Gold fell more than US$27 an ounce on the day, giving back its recent leadership, while WTI eased for a second straight day to $71.41. The index has held inside a roughly 450-point range across the past nine sessions.
